We loved the article in via magazine about Tomales Bay so much that we wanted to share some of it. The Inn is very close, some of our guests went to the ocean yesterday afternoon!
The article talks about the vast farmland and that at one point developers had planned a city of 150,000. Luckily it remains an "agricultural preserve, strengthening its ranches and farms." Farms have bordered the bay since the 1800’s, did you know that in back then one of the quickest ways to get dairy to market was by boat? It is truly a beautiful stretch of land that can’t be missed.
Visit the historic Pierce Point Ranch, and then take a bluff trail to the Tule Elk Preserve, where the Elk "look like they've escaped from Santa's team but are in fact native to California". Fall has some of the best weather in West Marin, so take a Kayak tour in the mellow Fall waters with Point Reyes Outdoors. You may see anything from river otters to pupping leopard sharks and many native shore birds. Of course you will get hungry, and you will enjoy the many choices of local produce, baking, cheese and fresh oysters. My personal favorite is the Cowgirl Creamery; you can sample cheeses and enjoy a wonderful lunch at one of their outdoor picnic tables.

To Eat: Bovine Bakery (gluten free options), Cowgirl Creamery, Hog Island Oyster Co., Nick's Cove, Osteria Stellina, Tomales Bay Oyseter Co.
To Stay: San Anselmo Inn, of course! Close proximity to San Francisco, Napa and Tomales Bay.
